How the Model Works
The detection engine ingests all historical trial user behavior and separates it into two cohorts: users who converted to paid, and users who churned. It then runs pattern-matching algorithms to find:
- Single-event predictors — a specific action that correlates with conversion at a disproportionately high rate
- Threshold effects — performing action X exactly N times that spikes conversion probability (like Slack's famous 2,000-message threshold)
- Sequence patterns — doing action A then B is highly predictive; doing B then A predicts nothing
